MR. HORSE is from Austria and, as an innovative Graffiti artist, has earned a reputation that reaches far across the Alpine borders. One of his recurring motives is a stylised horse. He has transferred this horse onto all different kinds of formats and, for example, gave it product character as a self-assembly toy. In Wuppertal, the trained architect very closely observed the city and its structure. His horses (32 altogether) appeared as wooden sculptures in various locations throughout the city. Every horse has its own (his)story which could be discovered by looking at its characteristic features. Throughout the city, MR. HORSE also handed out little booklets in which each horse’s story is told.
Project description:

What’s the idea behind your project?
To tell the people that it’s up to them how their life looks like, and that it’s up to them to make new decisions or to stay as they are.
How have you developed your project?
Watching the city, finding potential spots to play with, then coming up with the main idea and then bringing it into a final form.
Why did you decide to be part of the project?
I don´t say no to "Kunstmäzen" (patron of the arts) and the people who asked me to take part in it, had the right background and attitude, so there were no worries for me.
What was special about the project?
That money was no problem.
What do you think of Wuppertal as a location for this kind of exhibition?
It’s a good location, because it offers a variety of urban atmospheres and the characteristic Wupper and Schwebebahn.
How much was your project affected by Wuppertal?
Not so much.
Do you think the frame of OUTSIDES can be a role model for further projects?
Yes.
